Just seven days after its release date, ‘André Rieu - Live In Australia’ has sold over 300,000 copies, earning it an unprecedented 20 platinum awards.
This brings André’s total number of platinum accreditations across his CDs and DVDs in Australia to a staggering 100.
“This is the most significant achievement by an artist in the Australian music industry I have seen in my lifetime.” said George Ash, Managing Director Universal Music Australia.
The successes continue for André, with the double CD ‘Andre Rieu – Live In Australia’ going gold in its first week of release.
Earlier this week, André made history with the biggest ever first week scans for a music DVD and the first classical music DVD release ever to scan more units than the #1 ARIA album in one week. What made this an even more astonishing accomplishment is that this was achieved in only four days at retail.
André Rieu will return to Australia in October/November 2009 for a series of arena shows with a new program which promises to be as fun-filled and energising as his recent Romantic Vienna Night tour.

In anticipation of André's Sydney shows this week at ANZ Stadium, fans have seen him appear on Channel 7's Sunrise this morning, and chatting to iconic radio host Alan Jones.
With three huge concerts in Sydney to come, the anticipation from Sydney fans has reached an all time high!
